pokertracker.com - this software will track all of your hands in cash or tournaments. It will give you a summary of money won and lost, session summaries, performances with certain starting cards, performances against a player, etc, etc. Many of these stats will also be graphed to make things visually easy to see. With pokertracker there is also a HUD (heads-up display), which is a display which appear on your actual poker table itself. It will tell you all manner of interesting stats like aggression factor, 3bet percentage, VPIP (how often a player voluntarily puts money into a pot, ie tightness), etc, etc. These HUD stats are great for helping to make decisions against opponents. Pokertracker is obviously available for Holdem as standard, but it is also available for Omaha and Stud.
holdemmanager.com - quite similar to pokertracker in general functionality. Often cited as being clearer or easier to use by some. Generally speaking there isnt a lot in it. Holdem Manager, as the name suggests, is only available for holdem.
